If the Festival America de Vincennes became one of the most important appointments of the life of the letters, the same title that the excellent dramatic travellers to St Malo festival, it is with enthusiasm and tenacity of a passionate literature American and history of the Indians of America, Francis Geffard. Child, Vincennes, he spent every day in a toy shop that made dream on the back of the school.
Later, at the age of twenty-one years, he bought the premises and creates the Millepages bookshop, which has since continued to grow to become a compelling event vincennois readers and elsewhere. Because, not content to sell books, Geffard had come as early as the 1980s, the largest American Novelists for public meetings with readers. Vincennes became a crossing point for all fans of American literature.

During his many trips to the United States, Geffard note that many excellent writers are not translated home. Of Asterix, here it is become editor in Albin Michel, where he launched in 1992 collections Indian land and land of America, who discover James Welch, Charles D'Ambrosio, Kevin Canty, Joseph Boyden, Elwood Reid, Sherman Alexie, Mary Crow Dog, Brady Udall, David Treuer, Louis Owens, Richard Hugo to cite only them. It was therefore logical that either at Vincennes that Francis Geffard organizes the America Festival, biennial event which has continued to grow since its inception in 2002.
Again this year, the list of 60 of novelists who made the displacement is dazzling. Note, for the first time at Vincennes, the presence of the absolute star, Bret Easton Ellis, which came to defend in France his latest opus, "Suite (Imperial (s)", recovery, twenty-five years later, of his bestseller "less than zero". BEE is not sparing himself because he will participate in several round tables (including one in Los Angeles), will sign his books at the Café of the booksellers and attend the reading of his novel by François Cluzet, Sunday afternoon.
The other present novelists include Guillermo Arriaga (writer of "21 grams" and "babel") for "Mexico, district South", Ethan Canin (America, America"), Joseph Boyden ("the seasons of loneliness"), Louise Erdrich ("the curse of doves"), Dan Fante, son of the great John Fante ("hard alcohol and engineering"), Barry Gifford, author of"Sailor and Lula"which David Lynch shot the film of the same name, James Grady, author of "three days of the condor" ("Mad Dogs"), Adam Haslett ("the Intrusion").
